I have been having a problem with email on my server. Lets say I am hosting a site called www.mysite.com. When I try to send email using SquirrelMail version 1.2.11, that works fine. However when someone tries to send email to user@mysite.com they get an error like the one below.
Reporting-MTA: dns;hotmail.com
Received-From-MTA: dns;mail.hotmail.com
Arrival-Date: Mon, 28 Jul 2003 08:20:25 -0700
Final-Recipient: rfc822;user@mysite.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 5.1.1 <user@mysite.com>... User
unknown
What is the cause of this problem? Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi,
I´m having the same problem...
Can someone with more experience in this matter reply?

Sounds like a DNS problem, or the e-mail account hasn't been created.
For DNS:
Make sure it's resolving to your server and make sure you have an MX record pointing to the hostname of your server.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I use SB DNS Tool, and i´ve already add the MX entry but it still doesn´t work.
Is it possible to make the process of MX entry´s automatic?

Hi,
You can try www.hr-consultores.com.pt or www.nnegocios.com

Well, it looks like hr-consultores.com.pt does not have an MX record and the other one has an MX record that points to a host that does not exist.

You need to change the record in your DNS configuration.

You will need to add an A record in the DNS Tool for mx.hr-consultores.com.pt that points to the IP address of your server.
