I am wondering what dns zone records are supposed to look like on my end given the following scenario: (if any are needed at all)

A) I am hosting a website on my SB server
B) A third-party hosting company is running the website owner's email through an Exchange server (not a SB machine)
C) This same third-party is hosting the dns

They will set up the zone records to point to my SB ip address for the domain, and obviously configure the mx record to point to their exchange server.

Initially my client was wanting me to host their email as well, so when I set up the site through webppliance I selected "Add to dns", then I used SB DNS tool to add the proper records.

Given the above scenario, do I delete some or all zone records? Modify them to point elsewhere? I'm confused.

Any takers?

If someone is doing DNS for you, you should not configure any zones on your server or in the ServerBeach DNS Tool. Configuring them will just lead to confusion and possible problems if the zones do not all match up.

Thanks.

So are you telling me to delete all existing zone records from webppliance and SB tool?

Yes, if you and ServerBeach are not authoritative for the domains, there is no sense having them there.

I deleted all the zone records as recommended. Everything seemed to be working fine until I found out the company who's site I'm hosting is receiving email from everyone except me. I'm not even sure how to troubleshoot this.

Again, another hosting company is hosting the DNS and exchange server for the email. They are pointing the host A record to my SB ip address for the web site.

Any ideas?
