View Full Version : Network Solutions - Am I Crazy?

I have a domain name registered at Network Solutions that I have owned since way back before anyone else could sell domain names.

I am trying to point the URL to my SB server but either something is wrong or I am just completely missing something...

I cannot find anywhere to change the IP or MX records on their control panel. If I list domains, I can see it and it has an EDIT DNS button. When I click it it wants me to edit my nameserver settings. If I try to select n1.geodns.net it tells me I can't because I don't own it. If I select the Network Solutions nameservers, it allows it but then sets my URL to go to their UNDER CONSTRUCTION page.

If I change the radio button setting from Currently point to: Constrction Page and check Change Domain to Point to: A designated Domain Nameserver, it puts me back into the same loop.

I see the Account Manage but they want money to access that "service".

Anyone able to assist? I am about to go have the URL transferred to my current registrar.

I suggest giving them a call. They are usually very helpful.

It sounds like you have the domain "parked" at NetworkSolutions and "edit nameservers" means "I want to register my own nameservers". Did they sucker^W convince you to use their domain parking for only $50/year or something? ;) You need to get the domain out of "parked" status before you can do anything with it. Their help line is very good if you can ever get through (the high-paying customers get a priority back-line so they can get instant support). There is also a pretty good help section on their web site.

No, I haven't paid them for anything other than the registration...it's been there for years pointing to my old server.

All I want to do is point it to the new SB Server but it won't allow me to add the geodns.net nameservers to the account but it says I cannot.

I have never seen a worse control panel. Everything there is designed to lock you into making your account on their servers.

I have another client that is having the same issue changing his IP address. I can see this becomming a royal pain in the butt if I get clients with existing URLs registered with them.

Thanks

Jerry

I always use the text forms and e-mail them in. It actually works faster because its all automated. You just need to be very careful about filling them out properly .. not all of the forms make sense right away.
