Has any one had any luck finding a firewall that works with Windows Server 2003? I used Blackice with my 2k server but upgrading to W3K I found out that its not compatible. I hate running it wide open like that.

I like the standard built in firewall which doesn’t let anything through unless you explicitly tell it so. I only allow 3389/Terminal Services, 80/DNS , 21/FTP, 110/pop3 and 25/smtp and ICMP Echo Request so I can ping. :)

Anyone know what the "Standard Built in Firewall" is? How to configure it, etc?
Thanks!

It's an advanced property of the TCP/IP protocol.
On my Win2k system (loosely translates from Danish):
Start -> Settings -> LAN/Dial-up connections -> LAN connection -> Properties -> TCP/IP Protocol -> Properties -> Advanced -> Settings tab -> TCP/IP Filter -> Properties...*deep breath*
Should be there, though.

Make sure you don't block your RDC ports! You won't be able to get back in!!!!!!

Thanks Nestor... I ALMOST :eek: did forget that. I spent about the last 15 minutes staring at the dialog and making sure everything works. I feel much better now to have at least a basic firewall running.
Thanks everyone for the help!

Hi
Does anyone know if there is a guide anywhere on the web to setting this up , ie exactly which ports to enable / disable , or can anyone provide a full list please?
