I have been trying to get the Power Tools installtion of OS Commerce running for a couple of days now. Basically, what happens is that after you run the setup and go to edit the site, the permissions for various directories are not set to allow you to edit the catalog/banners/files/etc. from the OS Commerce control panel.
I have tried changing just about every variable I can think of during and after the installation and get the same results.
The workaround is to manually go in and change all the directory permissions to allow read/write/execute permissions on all the required files. There are two problems with this method though... I am not sure what I am doing to the site security with this method, and it is a real time consuming mess!
Ideally what I want to be able to do, the promise of Power Tools, is allow my customers to quickly and easily install thier own applications. If they have to start manually editing permissions every time though, it defeats the purpose.
Question - has anyone had any luck with the Power Tools install of OS Commerce? Could you share your experience with me?
Thanks in advance!
