I was given this article to read this evening and found it quite interesting:
"According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's probably shouldn't have survived.

http://www.davesdaily.com/strange-over25_02-04.htm

It just reminded me of how I'm able to laugh at (or roll my eyes at because it's so ludicrous  ) many things in the world today.

I think it's pretty interesting. I mean, back in those days there were so many things that you were able to do without people shouting, "You're going to get cancer if you eat/breathe that!!!" or "You're going to get poisoned by doing that!!". Today, everywhere you turn you hear how this is going to give you cancer, that is going to make you sick, and this is going to shorten your life span.

The differences between back when I was growing up and now are simply amazing. Take for example this paragraph:

Back then:
How sick were my parents? Of course my parents weren't the only psychos. I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop just before he fell off. Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house. Instead she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck.

Now:
"I'm going to sue!!!"

or

Back then:
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Now:
My daughters jr. high basketball team has 60 girls on it. Because "everyone" who tried out "made the team". Yet the season is only for 2.5 months and not all of them got to play...but they made the team!!!. I feel for the parents who had to go out and spend $100 on "school required" basketball shoes for their children to sit and look pretty on the bench.

That story really reminded me of the ugly reality of todays society.
