View Full Version : [ipcheck] Problems with dns setup on server1.attack.se
Hi there,
I get this every day in my mail, what is wrong??
IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (server1.attack.se) resolves to . It should resolve to 66.135.34.95. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.
Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.
You may be able to
automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager
I have attached my dns settings in a .gif picture .. please look at it and tell me what i am missing.

please post your /etc/resolv.conf file.
the dns zone gif you posted looks ok, but won't matter if you're not using your own name server or don't have the service running.
Hi there Charlie,
This is what it says:
nameserver 66.139.72.6
nameserver 66.139.72.22

ok. so your system resolves using serverbeach's dns server.
2maz...
i don't quite understand this, so you'll have to help me understand. am i mistaken...? it looks like your domain information is set as...
~~~~~
*domainname.name: attack.se
*domainname.status: REGISTRERAT
*domainname.regdate: 2003-05-30
*domainname.dns.data:
attack.se. NS ns1.akivra.com.
attack.se. NS ns2.akivra.com.
~~~~~
so that would mean you're hosting your DNS with akivra. to fix your problem, you're going to have to go to your name server management for ns1.akivra.com and ns2.akivra.com and add an entry for...
server1.attack.se <-----> 66.135.34.95
btw, this also probably means that your local dns zone setting changes probably won't do anyting since you're not running your own name server, unless you have the local host ip in your resolv file.

Hi there Charlie,
The domain has been moved to serverbeach, it has just not yet rolled over, as the Swedish domainregistry are not so fast as a normal .com registry .. =)
So that attack.se currently is residing at akivra.com should have nothing to do with the fail emails i get with my server here .. or does it?

well... first off, i would check with your /etc/hosts file like the error suggests. you should have a record for your server... it should look like...
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
66.135.34.95 server1.attack.se server1
127.0.0.1 localhost
that should probably solve your problem.

/etc/hosts checked, and looks like the following:
HOSTS
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
66.135.34.95 server1.attack.se server1
127.0.0.1 localhost
Any other suggestions?

well well well... i guess then the only other thing to verify is that you do have the server1.attack.se address in your dns tables. wait for the dns transfer to happen and then create you entries in your dns tool. it may create the server1 automatically for you.
