Hi,i orderd a Powerserver with redhad 9.0 .They told me ,Webadmin is installed on this Package, but it is not!
I cannot Access to Webadmin Stuff.I cannot Acces my Server via FTP.
The Only thing that i can do is to Access my Server via Putty.
I dont know why,but i Webadmin is not installed!

Here are the Faq.:

13 Will my server have a web-based control panel?
Linux: For our Red Hat Linux servers, we have a web-based interface called Webmin, see www.webmin.com for online manuals and screenshots of this interface. The other servers have Control Panel Software included that was designed to make your life much simpler as the single point administrator. This tool allows you to manage multiple domains very easily on a Linux Server.
Windows: A stats package is not installed.

I do believe Webmin is installed, but it's not on the standard port 10000 (due to security). Look in your setup email to see what port Webmin is on.

But if you can SSH to the box, then what's the problem?
You can use SSH to start and/or install any service you like.

Oh, and if you haven't used Webmin before, you are in for a ride.
It's not exactly a user-friendly controlpanel. You need to know your way around the different services to use it. It's merely a faster way of doing what most do through SSH, but just as complicated.

The port is :42107
and the only thing that happend ,if i enter the url is
This Page cannot be displayed.
I am not a super Linux Freak, but this Webpanel should work.

I also looking for a good Wepage where i can find a step by step
Manual.I have a server and can do nothing with it.I have no idea how to use ssh correct.

My friend will give me a hand on this,he ordert his Powerserver last month from Serverbeach. His Webadmin was working right now. Also if i connect via Putty and i enter the command mc nothing will happen .Something like command not found shows up.

What do you think?

Your path is not set by default in SSH, so when you want mc you actually want /usr/bin/mc .

To find the absolute path to a program, use locate bin/programname where programname is what you are looking for.
More general searches can be done with just locate programname, but then you'll find a lot of files, including all documentation and sometimes sources.

To start Webmin from SSH, run /etc/webmin/start. And you need to be root to do that, btw. su to get root.
Webmin's conf file is /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf, so edit that to set the port.

When I ran mc, Midnight Commander ran, not webmin. How else can I run webmin?

I repeat: /etc/webmin/start

http://www.webmin.com/download.html does.

Can use wget to download the RPMs.

And locate webmin returns absolutely no files?

Sure you ordered a Webmin server, and not cPanel, Ensim WEBppliance, or Plesk?

Check this out !

This was the Email from SB!

Your server came preloaded with the Webmin Control Panel.

What is Webmin?

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any browser that supports tables and forms (and Java for the File Manager module), you can set up user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and so on.

Webmin consists of a simple web server, and a number of CGI programs which directly update system files like /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/passwd. The web server and all CGI programs are written in Perl version 5, and use no non-standard Perl modules.

So if I have Plesk I will not have Webmin? It's just another CP like Plesk or Enism?

For one, Webmin is not meant for reselling and/or virtual hosting (although the Virtualmin module can be installed). It's more of a visual extention to SSH...has a very nice file manager, for example.

And Forti, mc is at /usr/bin/mc ... your path is not set, so you can't just do mc.
Just install Webmin from the RPM, then. Shouldn't be a problem.
