Advice...Hack attempts

I have been getting hack attempts on a daily basis..I know, who doesnt...I can see where they try to get in using admin, user, guest, root and of course fail. The IP's always resolve to nothing...

What do you guys do when you get hit...do you take the time to backtrack and hunt down the source or do you just accept that this type of thing happens...

I have also been getting the stack overflow hit to see if I am running a windows machine...just annoying

Just make sure your box is up to date - root login disabled, along with all the other accounts. You can also get portsentry to block the users who scan, etc.
