I assume that serverbeach still deploys FC1 if you ask for a fedora machine, no?

Assuming that is the case, has anyone successfully done a fc1->fc2 upgrade remotely?

Did you follow the steps in http://linux.duke.edu/%7Eskvidal/misc/fc1-fc2-yum-hints.txt
or something else?

Thanks!

Fedora life span seems very short, I am wondering if people should be using it... upgrading the server to the next core every 4-6 months seems like a lot of unwanted work, headache and problems.

maybe its not as difficult as it seems though...?

true.. is not so dificult...

just a "yum upgrade" mos of the time will do but still a risk...

Ok, you might be able to do it without problems. However, I have read a lot about this subject and the general opinion is that there is not a good, clean upgrade path via command line updaters (up2date, rpm, apt-get, and yum).

Most everyone I know is recommending fresh, clean reinstall. Apparently too many "gotchas" involved. If you screw up your upgrade, it will cost you at least $30 for SB to reload your OS. Certainly don't recommend it on a production system.

Yeah...but MOST of the problems I have read entail nothing I am concerned with on my server...mouse, keyboard, desktop, video problems...I am getting ready to upgrade to FC2 myself and am in the process of getting rid of EVERYTHING I do not need...less for the upgrade to deal with and less for me to have to update later...
