Hi.
I just got my server today. It has RHEL. So, one of the first things I did was a up2date -f -u (I chuckle every time I type that). Now I have a shiny new stock kernel and everything seems to be fine. (postfix fails on startup, but I think it was failing before I did the upgrade. That'll be tomorrow's project.)
I was just about to configure the kernel sources when I realized that I don't know squat about the hardware I'm running. So I was wondering if SB has a custom kernel config file that they use, or do they just install the kernel right off the CD. Does anyone have a good kernel config for the powerline servers?
Should I just say forget it and use the stock kernel?
BTW. I noticed that in some older posts people were complaining about certain software not being installed. But it looks to me like I got just about everything, including a full X install! I didn't even realize all this stuff was here until I did up2date. I was going to start removing the packages that I don't need, but I thought I'd ask:
Would you leave everything just in case..., or get rid of it until you needed it?
Thanks.
