In 'Edit Setup' in WHM I need to put an entry in the Primary Name Server input box. Underneath the input box it reads

Enter the hostname of the primary nameserver (normally, the name of this server) you wish to use when creating new domains or subdomains.

When it says (normally, the name of this server) it throws me off. The name of my server is:
server1.mydomain.info. (My domain is not mydomain, just put that there as a place holder). Anyway I thought that the name of the box I am using was not suppose to be used anywhere else. I have read this. Can I name my Primary Name Server ns1.mydomain.info? Or should it be server1.mydomain.info?

If you're doing your own DNS (primary and secondary), then you should put your own nameserver in this field. If you're using the ServerBeach DNS tool for DNS, then you need to use ns1.geodns.net. :)

Thanks for the reply.
If the name of the server I rent at SB is called
server1.mydomain.info does the name of my primary name server also have to be server1.mydomain.info? Or can it be ns1.mydomain.info?

It depends on what you want to use for your nameservers. If you have ns1.mydomain.info registered as a nameserver, then that is what you use. If you registered server1.mydomain.info as a nameserver, then use that.

You can use ns1.mydomain.info as a nameserver even if your servername is different. No one from the outside will know any better :)

Thanks again. When I tried to self-host earlier this year I didn't have whm or cp so I just did as I read in the RH Bible. Simple. I quess I am trying to read into what the whm wants. Off I go to name my primary name server. Thanks.
