I recently saw a large amount of attempted SSH connections to my server from 80.55.135.174. Fortunately, I have SSH setup so it won't allow root logins and will only allow one person to login.
I'd like to prevent this IP from even having a chance at guessing the correct username/combo for SSH. However, the hosts.deny file does not provide the syntax to use to block this IP. Everything I've seen onlyine keeps telling me to go the ALL:ALL route, but I just don't have the courage to do that (I've locked myself out of my server once already, that was enough). Can someone be so kind as to provide the correct syntax to block the above IP?
Thanks!
