Maybe I'm missing something here, but you can't access the subdomain if it doesn't resolve, and it won't resolve unless you add it to DNS.

Shouldn't it do that automatically? I'm confused about this... the client sets up their own sub-domains but I have to list them in the DNS? I have a client that made a sub-domain named http://arlene.meli-family.com/ and he can't log into the page. I dont understand why he can't?

What was the url or link to the post you found?

HELP!!!!

No, because you are using Serverbeach's DNS servers (geodns.net) changes have to be made using the SB DNS tool. Ensim can configure apache to respond to requests for the new subdomain, but it has no way of updating a record on remote DNS servers.

If it is an option with Ensim, you could run DNS on your server as the primary and then configure SB/geodns as secondary. You would still have to configure each domain in SB DNS tool, but any updates to the domain record, like new subdomains ('A' records), would be taken care of automagically. That is, if Ensim supports local DNS server and if Ensim updates it automatically when a subdomain record is create.
The Ensim experts will have to chime in on whether that is possible.
