I'm on a Win2k Server with Ensim. When I check task manager I find NTVDM.exe is using between 90% and 100% of my processor. Task manager won't let me disable it.

Any suggestions?

Tried a reboot and it just comes right back at 90%-100% usage.

Well, its either something in your startup thats using a DOS window and crashing, or its a virus hiding behind the name NTVDM.exe
I would suggest reading some of the pages on a Google search (http://www.google.com/search?q=ntvdm.exe+virus). You may also want to check for viruses and look for any odd programs running in your startup scripts.

Just wanted to say thanks for being so quick to post a response. I should have mentioned in my original post that I already googled the issue and tried some of the fixes suggested including those in the MS KB.

I've now submitted a support ticket and am leaving it in the very capable hands of SB staff.

Did you install something recently that would cause this behavior? Unless you're running some old school dos program, not much uses NTVDM.

Do you have antivirus running on your server? It won't be too much use if you're processor is pegged at 90%, but ClamWin (http://www.clamwin.org/) is an open source virus scanner you can use to run nightly scans once you get this issue fixed. ;)

It is a Virus which is a kick in the head since I'm already running McAfee ASAP on this box. However the it does not update definitions automatically since it had to be installed from the command line because (and I only found this out after I bought it) it can not be installed via remote desktop. Which is funny since I called them and asked in advance.

Once I get things straightened out I am going to try your sugguestion though, thanks.
