Well I just shut her down. And she is in the care of the Server Beach team. I trust them but I still worry.................................

But I have to say. I tested the reboot and it worked great and the shut down went great. What to do with out my server.....................

I forgot if you run windows or linux, but how long does it take for a linux server to reboot?

I run Linux on a Power 2200 box. Not very much on it yet only on good size message board and it is not even the size of this one.

But it only took like 30 seconds to a minute. I did the Reboot checked the sites to make sure it was rebooting. They were down. I checked about 30 seconds after that and they were back up.

I was shocked to tell you the truth lol

This is one of my favorite places to be. I love coming here and seeing new threads.

I am getting new snakes pretty soon. Probably in 2 weeks. I am getting a few Pigmy Rattle snakes and a bunch of Red Rat Snakes(corn Snakes) and maybe a few Mangrove Snakes

One of my friends has a snake...
All this about server moves and rapid reboot and 100MB port makes me want to purchase my server more and more, but I have hit a dead end...
I don't have the money!!

Don't forget to let us know when you have pictures of them!

I say that...but yet I literally cringed and shivered when I looked at the last pictures of the snakes :P

Snakes ROCK!!! lol

I will give you the best advise I can about the server. Get it through Server Beach. You know that saying you get what you pay for? Well Server beach blows that away. You get a lot more then you pay for. Shoot I should say a ton more. Go with Server Beach and you will be a happy happy person.

Oh for sure. I have some pics of a few new things I have now. When the server is back up I will get them posted. I can not wait for the little buzz tails to get here.

Everyone has told me server beach is the best value. I checked every other host out there, EV1 (whose website drove me away within the first 2 minutes), Ilan host, Recon Gamer... server beach has the best value. Other companies have slower and less ram, or don't have the disk space, or use junky parts. Hopefully I'll be a server beach customer soon :D.

Oh are you so right. When I was looking for servers I was lost. I seen Server Beach on google I believe. And I was comparing prices. But I was doing it wrong. I was looking at some servers for 70 bucks a month but they offered nothing at all.

Well Roger told me that he would call me and we could talk about what Server beach offered. Once I heard that they offered 2x to 10x what others did for less I was all for it. Then when he told me they use server grade parts he had me sold. I had my Server the next morning.

2000GB-That is very very hard to find anywhere let alone for the price Server Beach offers it for

Support-Server Beach is second to none.

The forums- Again there is not another like it out there. These members help each other so fast and QT and Knightfoo are awesome.

And the most important thing IMO. They are upfront about things. They do not tell you you can get this and that and then you find out it will cost an arm and a leg to get it.

We need to see about getting "QT and knightfoo" on the features list for ServerBeach servers. ;)

Could I add that feature through myserverbeach portal?

adb22791

Will they cost extra??? :D
I have to talk to my web host about letting me move my site. You think I'll have a problem getting them to give me control of the domain, or at least point the domain to the IP of the SB server I eventually purchase? I believe they registered the domain through a bulk IP company.

GaryO

If you purchased the Domain then it is yours. And if you are paying for your site then it is yours. I am not 100% sure on this but they can not with hold your data.

No if you let the bill go and do not pay you could lose it.

knightfoo: Entertainment? You wish. :P And features? Sheesh! I'd ask you what kind of features we'd offer but it's late at night and your brain is on the loose. :P

GaryK: Are you spying on me? ;) You are correct. I have many customers on ICQ at this time worried to death because their servers are down for the migration. I think most have calmed down a little but there's still a few that are keeping me on my toes. :)

QT: I'm not really spying on you QT. It's just that when you're online, like you are now, I can see your ICQ icon in Trillian's contacts list. ;)

GaryO: Glad to hear your server transition went smoothly. I hope you didn't need to many tranquilizers to get you through the ordeal. :D

It seems like most of the servers are being moved w/out any problems. I can't even begin to imagine what a huge task this must be. :dizzy:

One day, we may actually have a great conversation on there! :P My contact list has grown like crazy and I love it. I've made so many friends and it's nice to be able to just sit, relax, and chat with you guys about anything and everything that doesn't necessarily have to do with ServerBeach.

It's quite the task, I believe approximately 2500+ servers are in this move and only a few hundred are left to move. All has gone smoothly and we're excited to see this completed. :)

I'd love to chat with you too about anything at all. But I sort of feel like I don't have any right to bug you on ICQ unless perhaps it's an emergency. Also, IM chatting is not something I really enjoy. I have it because it's become a business necessity. And with so many people using so many different IM nets Trillian was really my only option.

Messaging me on ICQ .. is not bugging me. I don't want any of you to feel that you can only message me for an emergency. I get random fly-by "Hi QT!" messages and never hear from that person again, but it still makes me smile.

I understand the business necessity side of it, but I also think it's a nice and quick way to kill a few spare minutes if you're waiting on something to finish up.

Since you do not enjoy IM'ing, I will respect that. :)

When I saw you online the other night I was tempted to send an IM just to say howdy. To me that's not really chatting. One aspect of IM I do enjoy is video/audio conferencing because that's sort of like the phone only better. I've been doing that lately with the developer of MEFilter, which is a spam and e-mail management system written specifically for Mail Enable and is shareware. I'm developing a web interface for his program so we need to talk a lot about all the details.

EDIT: Cool! I just accidentally discovered the save button has an accesskey property assigned to it so I can save messages by simply pressing Alt+S instead of clicking the save button. I do that on my own custom forum software but I've rarely seen it implemented anywhere else. You can also use Alt+P for preview. Now I like this new forum even better. :)

Don't ever hesitate to message and say hello. :)

Video/Audio conferencing, I'm sure that's quite interesting, entertaining, and cool.

As for the new forum, it's going to take some time for me to get used to, but I'm getting the hang of it.
