Has SB released an official recomendation on this service pack yet, or has msft released any official recomendations since there was indication that hosting providers should hold off?
Thanks,
Brook
The email I received from Microsoft was that for hosting providers they should not install in until futher testing was done which is suppose to end on the 15th. I would imagin we should hear something at that point about it.
From what I've read there is an 80% chance that if you install it you will be screwed.

FWIW, I finally did get SP1 installed on my Web ed. server today. This was of course not before a OS reload due to the completely unresponsive heap of plastic my box became after the first go-around. Heeding the advise of the SB techs [who were really stellar in the whole affair] I did not do an immediate SP1 upgrade on the fresh system and rather waited to see if they could come up with any recommendations in the near term. In the end they were unable to provide any insights specific to SP1. However, they suggested I take advantage of the extra HD that had become a temporary guest in my box, clone it and proceed with a renewed attempt so I could kindly get their HD back to them.
There are a number of things that could have made the difference in my recent success. But, my hunch is I was a bit more motivated, this time, to ensure I had ALL non-MS services and startup programs disabled. Basically, I would just suggest that before you go about the deed that you are sure after a restart that all you running processes are MS. The cheap and easy way to get at the hidden startup items is though msconfig. My only burp along the way was a very long pause at "Running processes after installation".
Good luck - you'll need it.

I installed the SP1 update on a server with Windows 2003 Server Web Edition. The update took about 10 minutes to install. It worked fine.
Since cross posting is bad I won't report what I already posted about it but here is the link to the info I have on SP1

I too, am holding off SP1. Before I do install it, I wanted to ask if anyone with a similar set up installed SP1 and your experiences. I have the server 2003 running IIS w/Frontpage extensions, DNS, Mail Enable Pro, & Symantec Anti-Virus.
