Hi,
Sometimes I can not download new e-mails from our server with pop3. The e-mails do not get lost and after one day or so (sometimes a few hours) it works again and I can download it again. Nothing was lost but the time gap is rather anoying.
I tried MailEnable, the built in Pop3 service and today I tried SmartMail
What I do wrong or what I have wrong setup?
Thanks

It sounds to me like it might be your email client, rather than your server. If you tried 3 different mail servers and it did the same thing each time, it's probably not the mail server.

If your queue is getting too big it will delay email processing time no matter what mail server or client you are using.
Check that:
a) You are not getting too many spam messages to all of the accounts on the server
b) A client does not have a mailbox that's quota is filled and thus causing all mail messages to bounce (and then double bounce spam that is forged).
c)There was a c, but I forgot by the time I got here. WHen I remeber I'll post.

Dont think its the client
I check the mailbox and it says 0 messages in there on the server - but suddenly all come in - none is getting lost normally
Also we get about 200 to 400 emails a day - dont think it is to much
Thanks for helping

Sorry, I didn't really understand your initial explanation of the problem. I thought you meant that the server wasn't letting you download email that was there. Now that I understand, it does sound like something is getting held up in the queue. Are these stock configurations or have you added something to the MTA that might slow down the processing of mail?

No - I use pretty much default settings - I only chaged the ports sice the default ports are blocked.
When I send for example an email from my gmail account to my server it says also it was delivered but it dont show up.
Where I can check the MTA settings?
