View Full Version : Add Windows Components

I need to install a Windows component (Windows Media Services) from the Windows 2003 installation CD.

I'm planning to upload the Windows 2003 Standard Volume License Edition ISO image and connect it with daemon tools.

Anyone tried this? Is there a better way? How sensitive is W2K3 to mixing components from different install CDs? If that's a problem then do we know which CD (part No) was used to setup the servers? I can probably get the version from MSDN library.

The software is licensed so can't see that being an issue and I don't think 2003 asks for the key when adding components.

Cheers,
Julian

I believe SB places the I386 folder on the drive somewhere. As long as its a standard installation, you can install from that.

Sure enough it's in c:\winnt\I386

Thanks Kyle, you saved me a time consuming and rather risky operation there.

%systemroot%\i386
