What IP address did you use when you registered your nameservers?

Please explain further I rode the small bus home after school, reg name server where in the setup of cpanel or at directnic?
You need to register your nameservers at the same place that you registered your domain. When you register your nameservers, make sure you register ns1.yourdomain.com to the primary IP address of your server, and ns2.yourdomain.com to the second IP address on your server. You cannot use the IP address of the GeoDNS nameservers when you register your nameservers. :)

I dont understand, look do I use the ip address of my server??
Server Name (FQDN): server1.mydomain.com
IP Address: 6?.4?.5?.1?8
Primary Userid: myuserid
Primary Userid Password: *******
Root/Admin Password: ******
this is what they sent me, I go to directnic and try to get name server resolved and it isnt working.....
is there a way you can explain this where a special ed student can understand it?
thanks for all you time and help, sorry I am slow:D

Yes, you would use the primary IP address of your server in order to register your first nameserver. If you want to register a second nameserver, you will need to request an additional IP address.

Once you have registered the nameserver, it will probably take 24 hours for it to actually appear on the Internet. While you are waiting, you need to make sure that the zone file for yourdomain.com has an A record for the nameserver you registered pointing to the correct IP address, which would be the same IP address you registered the nameserver with.
You will probably want to use ns1.yourdomain.com in order to keep things simple. You also need to consider how you want to handle your second nameserver .. most registrars will not allow you to move domains over if you have only one nameserver. If you are not sure whether you registered your nameserver properly, post your domain and nameserver or PM them to me so I can see if it is set up right.

www.loanrate.ws nameserver ns1.loanrate.ws with the ip given to me via serverbeach.com as the ip for both ns1 and ns2
on another note, if you need 2 ip's why doesnt serverbeach give you 2 ip's for name servers, I myself wouldnt mind paying the extra $$$, I mean you have to turn around and order the ip anyway right??
or is this standard practice for all server companies to issue 1 ip and then you request another?
just wondering
thanks

It looks like your nameservers are registered somewhere else. Let's trace it back:
$ host -t ns ws. <- don't forget that . there
ws NS ns2.dns.ws
ws NS ns3.dns.ws
ws NS ns4.dns.ws
ws NS ns5.dns.ws
ws NS ns1.dns.ws
Those are the authoritative nameservers for the .ws TLD.
$ host -t ns loanrate.ws. ns1.dns.ws
loanrate.ws NS ns1.loanrate.ws
loanrate.ws NS ns2.loanrate.ws
That looks good .. the authoritative servers show that your nameservers for loanrate.ws are ns1 and ns2.loanrate.ws
$ host ns1.loanrate.ws. ns1.dns.ws
ns1.loanrate.ws A 64.21.169.198
$ host ns1.loanrate.ws. ns2.dns.ws
ns1.loanrate.ws A 64.21.169.198
Uh oh. Those don't look like ServerBeach IP addresses. The IP address listed also doesn't seem to know anything about your domain.
$ host -t ns loanrate.ws. 64.21.169.198
loanrate.ws NS record not found at 64.21.169.198, server failure
If you are going to be running DNS off of your ServerBeach server, you need to get an additional IP address and move ns1 and ns2 to your server here. We do not provide 2 IP addresses by default because 1) only 1 IP address is justifiable immediately and 2) not everyone runs their own nameservers.

For the actual nameserver registration, you need to contact the registrar where you registered the domain. Each registrar has their own forms and procedures. As for configuring the zones on your server, you should check the documentation for your control panel or operating system first. The cPanel documentation is pretty thorough and they have a lot of good information in their support forums.

dont take this the wrong way, but I am asking the same questions over and over again and your giving me answers that arent really helping much, I am sure this is my fault though...I keep stating I am using the ip address that SB gave me (the 1 ip address) I am not new to changing name servers, I ran cpanel with splashservers for over a year, i will double check my #'s and notes again and drop you another message.
thanks for your time,
Brandon

I am looking at directnic.com at this very minute, the name server says that 69.44.57.198 is the ip set for the nameservers...
so whats going on, I have changed nameservers 100's times with my old server?
so why is it so hard to get this one to act right?
I have done everything you have told me and nothing works?
Next?:confused:
