Really, how? I think it would be the coolest job ever, but that's just me. They don't have any good DC's here in oklyhoma, so I've never tried.

You might want to talk to someone who has done it first. ;) Datacenter work is just hauling servers around and plugging things in .. support is where it's at! Just kidding. It mostly depends on the company. Some companies will just have you doing grunt work, while others will have you do troubleshooting. You need to find one first and check out the requirements. I guess the only way to really get a job would be to apply for one. :)

definitely get some certs if you don't want to just be a box mover. get at least your ccna and some specialty certs won't hurt like msce or cisco local director or BigIP or 3DNS and other network gear, knowing unix would be good too. then you can be mr. remote support guy living in the data center for all the customers.
but i would try to talk to people that work there if you can like knightfoo said. i'd just go there and apply. that is if they ever get one in oklahoma.
personally, i wouldn't want to work at a data center. i like to be around people too much. and in my first IT job i officed in the 65 degree data center for about a year. brrrrr....
