I'm trying to get a friend to go with SB and get a similar setup to what I have. I'm running a basic 2003 with 2 80GB hard drives. It looks like all of the SB server offerings like I have are now using 2003 Web Edition. I don't know a lot about Web Edition. But from initial reading, it looks like a Microsoft monopoly. They say you can't run anything other than their code on it. Is that correct? I run Apache, MySql, Tomcat, James, etc. on my own SB server. It's a deal-breaker if I can't run the same on my friend's new server as well. Yet it looks like more than double the price now to get a basic Windows server with 2 hard drives.

Am I reading this correctly?

Why do you run Apache on a windows server. Apache was built for Linux you should be using a linux server. Windows works best with IIS.

Thanks for the unsolicited appraisal of my business decisions. Why I am doing it is irrelevant to the question. Now that I know your opinion, could someone else please answer my original question?
