What do you guys use for an antivirus program on win2k, if any at all?

Norton, AVG, McAfee. etc... what do you like? I've been using AVG and it is working fine for me so far. What are your thoughts?

Recently I went through the whole gambit of AV software. For me
it really matters at the command line for my mail server. I started
with Norton CE and it had issues with zip files. I went to AVG Free
edition and around April it had an update that gave my mail software
a headache because of MIME parsing so I purchased Mcafee and
haven't really had any issues with it except still with the new virus
zip files. But with some cmd parameter help, I just move the zip
files directly into the recycle bin because there are issues with removing
a zip within MIME.

I have downloaded and installed norton on my 2003 server. No problems yet! Knock on wood!

If you are running a mail server, have you integrated NAV 2k3 into it?

If so, how is it handling MIME parsing? Particularly with zipped viruses.

What are your cmd line parameters?

Ron,

Currently, I am using IMail Server. It contains an email virus scanning program that works for all domains on the server.

Havent tried the command lines for NAV.

I would like to hear if any of you have any problems with this.

Renis,

Currently we are using 7.12 and 7.14 I think. Overall I am the most happy with Imail. There is a few features that I would like to see added to it.

Thanks,
Chris

I use MDaemon for mail and they also have an AV module. It works great. You can check it out at Alt-N Technologies (http://www.altn.com)

1 year ago i had a problem with Imail 6.06 or smething like that. With all options correclty placed, my server was used like an open relay for spam. I shuted down the server, but i was unable to find how was possible that. In the log files everything was strange. It seemed that i was an open relay in reality. When i tried to send mail by myself, (in the same mode as log files show) the mail server was normal, refusing to send like an open relay.

Maybe was a security vulnerability in that version and corrected later, but i was upset from that incident, and never used Imail later.

Renis,

I have had the same problem that you are describing. I contacted IMail and described the problem and within a few minutes they were able to walk me through the correct procedures to set mail relay.

Seems that the default settings are not very useful!
