I am a first time [ root ] thanks to server beach :) .
Q: Is there anyway to install ( Any Program ) from a shared drive?
Example:
If I remote desktop from home to Server is there anyway to install this software from home(cd-rom) if the drive is shared meaning domain connection? I hit M$ Q sites and there was a post saying that the remote server could see a shared drive if you made a domain connection ? or something like that anyone heard of this before?
If this is true then there would be no need in a extra internal program taking up space :)
Please post if you have Information on this topic Please :)

I would recommend against it because depending on the size of the CD rom, the installation would be very slow becuase NetBios through TCP/IP is veeerrrry slow. You're better off creating a ZIP (or what ever file compression you use to package the CD rom) file and uploading it to a directory on the server then decompressing and running the set-up on the server.

But if you want to do what you say then you should make sure you have file sharing enabled on your pc. Through RDC, from the server, go to the | start | run | and type the IP of your home pc like this, example:

\\111.111.1.1\m$

You may be prompted for a user and password, you should also make sure you have a user name with a password on your home pc. Once the connection is established, you'll see a folder open up with the drive specified in m$. Run the program you wish, but like I said, it will be very slow and you may get errors while doing this.

You could also use a program from AnalogX called TSDropCopy.
With this, you can use Terminal Server (Remote Desktop) to drag
and drop files to and from your server(s)

Anyway, is better not to use that mode for file transfer or runnif programs, because is really too slow.

Instead try using FTP, for transfering files first. Is much faster
