sorry for this kinda beginners question, but well I am so :)

We just got 2 servers here and have asked an extra IP, in the hope we will get them .... anyway it takes time and in the meantime we are pressed to get out the old datahouse

can a server run on just 1 ns ? This is the question, if so I would change the ip from our ns1 to the main IP from our server here

thanks for your help

A server does not require a nameserver to run .. you just need a couple of resolvers so your server can resolve hostnames, and ServerBeach supplies the resolvers. If you want to register nameservers, why not just register one on each server? This way you don't need to pay for an additional IP address, and your nameservers will actually be redundant. :)

The reason being we are migrating accounts from our old datacenter, and each box has over 1000 accounts on it, we are trimming the fat as we move. However they are two different types of accounts and we do not want one relying on the other. If for redundancy as one is not as necessary to be as stable as one of them. One has paying clients one does not, we do not wish the paying clients box to require anything being even closely resembling the other box. As the other box is having a serious turnover.
