I have a client who is interested in translating their web site in to a few different languages. I never have as I only speak English (and a few computer programming languages). Is there anyone here who translates web sites or can recommend someone?

I am also looking for any feedback on translation software or on-line services. Has anyone used either? Had success or not?

I *can* say you can forget about translation software. They are worthless. Online services tend to use these same translation programs (systransoft for instance) and therefore the translations are terribly inaccurate. You need a human translator, and one that we used for some French stuff (as I speak only passable french) was expensive. $80 an hour.

I did a brochure\catalog for a translation service about 4 years ago and we're talking serious bucks for professional translation from a service. At that time they were getting $125. per printed page 1.5 line space more for single space

Heh that's not funny. There are some languages that just don't translate properly. I think some customers use babel fish when they submit tickets, and we have to hold a support meeting to figure out what the ticket means.

Thanks guys for your feedback. I am pretty sure the price will change their minds.

knightfoo, that is funny. I can just see it...you all sitting around a table scratching your heads saying, "what does that mean"?
