    Game Servers at the Beach

Do you run a game server at the Beach? Let's hear about it!

    Right now I'm running 4 Counter-Strike source servers and 1 Left4dead2 server.

Other than those, I don't have anything else going on at the moment. I was running a minecraft server but got bored with it after a while.

I think here soon I'll have some other servers up such as Killing Floor and Homefront.

    Hi Dave,

What's your regular userbase like? I like your rule list. Nice and concise.

There's a couple of players that frequent the servers but I put them up for having fun.

I'm constantly in and out sometimes to ban people, usually trolls (LoLuMaD?), trash talking, etc. I keep banning hackers also. I am managing it all with sourcebans so if I ban them from one server they get banned from all of my servers.

Left4dead isn't really one to worry about in terms of cheaters but the trolls and griefers are plentiful.

    MineCraft

I have a little minecraft server running, but haven't got it to the point of opening up for public. Only had it installed less than a week. Anyone else running MineCraft?

    Sorry for late reply.

I've run a minecraft server before on my CentOS server and it performs pretty well. The software itself (minecraft) is still in beta (I believe I haven't checked in a while) and is still kind of buggy in terms of how much memory and CPU it uses but like I said it runs fine. I enjoy TNTing the world.

Only problem I ever have is with server mods and keeping it up to date. WIsh it had some kind of a better "automatic update" feature instead of unpacking it in WinRAR, putting mods in, and re-uploading every time there's an update.
