Prevent leeching (Hot Linking) on IIS
Tired of having people leech images off your site? I just downloaded and installed isapi_rewrite from Helicon and it works beautiful. One of the reasons I had originally used Apache was becase of mod_rewrite. I don't work for this company or even know where they're based, but their product is spot on!!
What it does is allows you to block users using images on your server on their own webpages hosted elsewhere. In fact, I use it to display an entirely different image which advertises my website! Patrick |

It's been a really long time since I've seen a post that was actually useful.
Thanks for posting this, I tried this thing out and it's pretty slick. I own a discussion forum and people are always leaching images. Now I won't have to worry about watermarking them. Just our of curiousity the sample provided for redirect on jpg/gif files goes to 404.asp, I found that didn't work, but it did well using a 404.jpg image I created that advertising my web address. It would be cool if you could redirect THIER page to yours wouldn't it? |
